We welcome you to the website of the Interior Architecture Department of the International Hellenic University, which completes 14 years since its foundation, on spring 2023.
The Department originates from the integration of its predecesor (Department of Interior Architecture, Decorative Arts and Product Design, founded March 2009) to International Hellenic University (IHU). Integrated in the reorganized academic institution of IHU, and part of the School of Design Sciences, it is the only University Department covering the scientific field of Interior Architecture in Northern Greece.
The Interior Architecture Department (IHU) is oriented towards scientific extroversion and holistic design approach. Its main purpose is to promote scientific, theoretic and applied aspects of interior design. The Department looks forward to developing critical scientific thinking, empowering research tools, and providing in depth scientific training of design and implementation of interior space. Within this mission, designed space brings together disciplines of science, technology and arts, in a profound human focus.
The curriculum (8 semesters) is structured on units of theory, design and technology, forming a single and indivisible course. Studies in the Interior Architecture Department (IHU) extend within scientific approaches of architecture, theory and visual arts; and embrace digital architectural methodologies and innovative interactive applications. The course offers modern, customized scientific skills, rendering a highly competitive contemporary European curriculum.
Graduates of Interior Architecture Department (IHU) can be employed, in private or public sector. They can join architectural and interior design practices, well prepared and capable of participating in various design and implementation project phases, both as individual professionals and as members of multidisciplinary teams. Their scientific, academic and artistic background allows them to either enter professional arenas or further continue their studies on postgraduate level and (in every case) pursue a promising career.
