Kertemelidou Paraskevi

Dr Paraskevi Kertemelidou is a qualified Architect Engineer (Department of Architects AUTH), and Interior Architect (Department of Interior Architecture, West Attica University). She has a Master’s Degree in Museology (D.P.M.S., AUTH.) and is a Doctor of Architectural Engineering (School of Architectural Engineering, Section III Architectural Language, Communication & Design, Metsovio Polytechnic School of Athens)
Her doctoral thesis is part of the cognitive area of ​​museum and exhibition design theory. It constructs mental schemes for the readability and description of the everyday object and the modern museum, important fields of the research, educational and practical problem-solving of architectural design. It undertakes an interpretative scheme of material culture through the understanding of the history and analysis of the utilitarian object and the history and theory of the museum institution and the evolution of the museum institution. The transitions of the industrial utilitarian object’s identity as a result of its selection and re-meaning processes in each museum exhibition condition are investigated and highlighted, and the importance of this process for the industrial utilitarian object’s contribution to the formation of the identities of social subjects.
She is an Assistant Professor, specializing in “Interior Architecture and Useful Objects” at the Department of Interior Architecture of the International Hellenic University, teaching the courses: “History and Theory of Design”, “Architectural Design of Cultural Spaces and Exhibitions”, “Architectural Design and Reuse of Buildings” and “Furniture & Object Design”
She also teaches at the Film Department of the School of Fine Arts of AUTH, as an Assistant Professor in accordance with the Decree N4009/2011 and as a teacher in accordance with the Degree 407/80.
Paraskevi Kertemelidou has additional teaching work, in the form of independent teaching, co-teaching, thematic lectures and supervision of postgraduate theses, in the postgraduate study programs “Museology – Cultural Management”, “Educational Sciences” of A.U.TH. and “Architecture – Spatial Planning” at the Metsovio Polytechnic School of Athens.
Also in the postgraduate program “Management of Cultural Units” of the Open University and in the two-year postgraduate program “Interior Architecture: Sustainable and Social Design” of the University of West Attica.
